World No Tobacco Day Exposes Health Lobby's Failures - Yet Again

This World No Tobacco Day, Legalise Vaping Australia (LVA) has sought to highlight the Australian Health Lobby's failure failure to curb smoking rates.

“Australia’s smoking rates still continue to stagnate, despite ever increasing taxes and restrictions on tobacco products. This World No Tobacco Day, it’s worth acknowledging what an abysmal failure our health groups have been when it comes to reducing smoking rates. Today should be a reminder that our taxes are funding failure.” Said Brian Marlow, Campaign Director for Legalise Vaping Australia.“

Our campaign has been running for more than two years now and despite our best efforts to educate health groups about the benefits of legal, safe vaping products as a harm reduced alternative so smoking, they continue to ignore the overwhelming evidence.”

“More than 52 Australians die every single day due to smoking related illnesses and we have a product that we know is less harmful and can help people quit smoking. To continue to keep these products illegal, while treating the local vaping community like second class citizens is abhorrent.”

“Smoking rates are still in the double digits, smokers are still dying, and health groups are still refusing to look at the overwhelming evidence in favour of vaping that stares them in the face each and every day.”

“Our message is clear. Legalise nicotine vaping once and for all so that next year’s World No Tobacco Day can celebrate the successes of reducing smoking rates in Australia. Not another year of absolute failure.”
