Nameless, Faceless TGA Bureaucrats Side With Cigarettes

Legalise Vaping Australia (LVA) has today slammed the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s decision to reject any moves towards legalising reduced risk  alternatives to cigarettes, labelling the decision as a slap in the face for Australia’s 3  million smokers and their families.

“Yet again a cabal of unelected, faceless bureaucrats have effectively given Australian smokers a death sentence by refusing to legalise any form of reduced risk alternatives to cigarettes.” Said Brian Marlow, Campaign Director for Legalise Vaping Australia.

“Legalise Vaping Australia firmly believes HTPs, nicotine vaping products, and any alternative products that are less harmful than cigarettes should be readily available to Aussie smokers to try and finally cut smoking rates once and for all. Yet for some reason, the TGA seems intent on protecting the sale of cigarettes sold by multinational tobacco companies, and protecting patches and gum sold by multinational pharma companies.”

“Despite all of the evidence showing that legal vaping products have helped tens of millions of people quit smoking all over the globe, these faceless regulators have yet again ignored it all and denied Aussie smokers from accessing less harmful alternatives with nothing more than the stroke of a pen.”

“It is ironic that in rejecting this application the TGA have simultaneously endorsed cigarettes, the most dangerous way to consume nicotine, and a product which are responsible for the deaths of 21,000 Australians each year.”

LVA is demanding that the Morrison Government intervene on this issue before more Australians are needlessly killed by complacent and reckless health regulators thanks to inaction by the TGA and the Federal Health Department.

“For years our Federal Health Minister has told vapers and addicted smokers to deal with the TGA if we want vaping to be legalised. Today’s interim decision clearly shows the TGA will never budge on vaping, no matter how many smokers die. There needs to be a better avenue for legalising these products.
