Media Release: Legalise Vaping Australia pens open letter to NSW's vaping premier

Legalise Vaping Australia, the nation's largest pro-vaping advocacy organization, has commended NSW Premier, Dominic Perrottet, for his success in quitting smoking by switching to vaping.

In a recent interview, the Premier highlighted how vaping helped him finally quit smoking, and how vaping can play an essential role in reducing smoking related harms.

Legalise Vaping Australia believes that the Premier's switch to vaping can inspire more smokers to quit smoking. If the NSW Premier can kick a deadly habit by switching to a 95% less harmful product, we believe this sends a stronger message to addicted smokers that vaping can help them too" said Mr. Marlow, Director of Legalise Vaping Australia.

Prescription model the cause of vaping black market:

In the interview, concerns were raised about the vaping black market and the need for vapers to get a prescription, however Mr Marlow believes the model is flawed.

"The prescription model is what's driving the black market in Australia. Less than 10% of adult Aussie vapers have a script, despite the model being in place for over a year. The end result is dodgy disposables with no product standards are sold on every street corner, while access to high quality, regulated vapes is severely limited. The current prescription policy is misguided and we call on the Premier to legalise and regulate nicotine vaping products once and for all. The

NSW Greens have announced a policy to legalise and regulate these products. We're hoping to see a similar announcement from the Premier."

LVA has written an open letter to the Premier (attached) asking his government to do the right thing and legalise vaping.
