Release: NSW Nationals consider legalising vaping
Legalise Vaping Australia today commended the work of Mr. Johnson and the NSW Nationals on the www.vapethestate.com.au campaign. The campaign aims to make NSW the first state to recognise the benefits of vaping as an aid to quitting smoking, to remove nicotine from the poisons standard when it is consumed through an e-cigarette device, to allow for domestic production of vaping products, and to funnel all new revenue collected from the sale of vape products into a regional health fund.
“By legalising vaping in NSW, we could save thousands of lives,” said Emilie Dye, the Policy Director of Legalise Vaping Australia. “The NSW Nationals are doing more to help people off of cigarettes than plain packaging, high excise taxes, or other restrictive government policies ever could.”
“Every day 58 Australians die from smoking related illnesses. By giving those smokers access to vape products the NSW government would give them a chance to switch to a product that, when produced under a proper regulatory framework, has led to zero deaths.”
“People deserve the option to make the choice to improve their health.”
