Ever increasing cigarette tax doesn’t help smokers quit
On Friday, Colin Mendelsohn, Associate Professor in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW, and ATHRA Chairman, was on Sky News Australia.
In the interview, Colin argued that the ever increasing tax from cigarettes is not helping smokers quit. He points to the fact that the tax on cigarettes has increased at 12.5% per year since 2013, while the smoking rate has remained relatively consistent.
